Carlos Laranjo Medeiros
President

Carlos L. Medeiros is the President of IPI Portugal, with more than 30 years of academic research and consultancy experience in sustainable development, economic growth, particularly in employment and microenterprise development, innovation, knowledge networks and clustering. Mr. Medeiros has a substantial public and private sectors track record, having taking up key positions in significant areas such as managing the Portuguese Government Arts & Crafts / Small Retail Business Program, from 1992 to 1996 and is the Executive Chairman of the Board of a tourism and leisure firm, since 1987.

Mr. Medeiros has been lecturing at various universities, for more than 25 years and works closely with Catholic University of Portugal, particularly with the CEPCEP research unit.

He is the author of more than 50 books and papers and is a frequent keynote speaker at corporate and industry events.

Mr. Medeiros has a DPhil from London School of Economics, a law bachelor's degree from The University of Lisbon and a social and political sciences bachelor's degree from The Technical University of Lisbon. He is a Portuguese citizen.

António Pinheiro
Vice President

As Vice President of IPI Portugal, António Pinheiro leverages his broad experience and business insight, built on more than three decades in senior government roles, such as Director-General of the Portuguese Directorate General for Economic Activities between 1998 and 2001, as well as, Principal Technical Advisor of Industrial and Enterprise Policy (steel, textiles, automotive and other industrial sectors) in the Portuguese Permanent Representation to the European Union, between 2001 and 2008.

Mr. Pinheiro’s past work experience allowed him to develop and hone his expertise in sustainable development, economic growth, particularly in employment and microenterprise development, innovation, knowledge networks and clustering.

Early in his career, he was a researcher at the Portuguese National Institute for Engineering, Technology and Innovation.

Mr. Pinheiro holds an Engineering Bachelor's Degree from IST in Lisbon and he is a Portuguese citizen.

Catherine Ledig
Partner

Catherine Ledig brings over 12 years of experience in leading transformation programs involving local, international, as well as, public and private partnership, network regrouping of organizations from different areas, such as in the ICT´s sector, innovation and enterprise development.

Ms. Ledig has a deep knowledge of information systems management, electronic business processes, creation-management of SME businesses, networks of competences and entrepreneurs, economic development, regional planning, European and international project management. She also serves as director of ADEC; an economic development association specialized in ICT, sustainable development and renewable energies, since its creation in 1994.

Previously, Ms. Ledig was senior accountant sales manager at IBM France. She gained extensive experience in client advisory and practice operations, including sales and business development, strategy formulation and solution implementation.

Ms. Ledig is associate lecturer in Information and Management Systems at the Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg. She has a Masters Degree in Geography from the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg and holds a Diploma from the IBM School of Managers.

Ms. Ledig is a French citizen.
