Presentation of the IPI Consulting Network Portugal study on viable alternatives to layoffs
On the 14 rd June 2010, the study “Sustentação do emprego em períodos de crise: boas práticas empresariais”, will be disclosed in a public session in LISBON, Palácio da Foz, Praça dos Restauradores.
This study, commissioned by the IAPMEI - Portuguese Institute for Support to Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and funded by the National Strategic Reference Framework, was awarded to IPI by the POAT FSE - European Social Fund Operational Program - Technical Assistance in June 2009, will be presented in a public ceremony, on the 14 rd June 2010, at 2.45 PM, Palacio da Foz, in Lisbon.
This report aimed to pinpoint the best business practices to prevent layoffs, without sacrificing the companies’ performance in the current context of downsizing and rising unemployment. Furthermore, it was also made an international benchmarking comparison of the best practices to keep employees in a down economy.
This presentation will have as main speakers, the President of the IAPMEI, Luis Filipe Costa, the manager of the POAT FSE - European Social Fund Operational Program - Technical Assistance, Rosa Maria Simões, as well as, Stephen S. Fuller as the keynote speaker (IPI USA).
The conference will bring together representatives of the business world and international experts, namely Susan Bateson, Senior Vice President, Human Resources of Human Genome Sciences, USA, as one of the guest speakers.
Throughout the afternoon, case studies and best practices will be shown by the speakers and the most innovative strategies and measures to control labour costs without redundancies will be discussed.
