IPI Consulting Network Portugal was present on the First Choral Group meeting in the framework of the Cante Alentejano UNESCO application
In the framework of the application of the Cante Alentejano to the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Confraria do Cante Alentejano, Casa do Alentejo and Associação MODA organized the first meeting of choral groups, which took place on the 8th January 2012. In addition to the sponsors and the groups, was also attended by the President of the Municipality of Serpa, and the President of the Application’s Executive Committee.
The Mayor of Serpa, Mr. João Rocha, made the welcoming remarks, expressed his high hopes regarding the initiative and explained how it began. He was followed by Mr. Carlos Medeiros, President of the Application Executive Committee and IPI Consulting Network, who encouraged the involvement of all relevant stakeholders. The President of Alentejo Tourism - ERT, stressed the potential economic benefits of the application, particularly in what concerns to the region’s tourism sector.
Afterwards, the meeting attendees were invited to debate and have a say on measures/actions aiming at maintaining, safeguarding and conveying this singing to the future generations. All participants who took the floor reaffirmed their commitment to the Cante Alentejano’s candidacy.
The event ended with full lunch, where the various stakeholders had plenty of networking time and spontaneously got together and started to sing.
